Please Slow Down
Finding Presence in a World Obsessed with Speed
We are obsessed with time – with speed! Life is full of “hacks” and shortcuts and efficiencies to garner more time and do things faster. But what do we do with the time we supposedly save? Often, we spend it chasing more speed. We fill the gaps with more tasks, more scrolling, more rushing. The promise of happiness through acceleration is seductive, but it rarely delivers.
This short book explores some ways we can think about slowing down. It is not a zillion pages long with complex theories and filled with words that end with ´ism´ or ´ology´. The idea was to write something simple. It is mostly a reminder! because life is so full, we often forget about these things.

Rituals, routines and repetition.
We are what we repeat... arent we?
We often do the same thing over and over again, both individually and in society. Sometimes this can lead to boredom or manifest into a desire to ´break from the norm´. We often seek solace in the stories of those who do! And they are hailed as heroes in a monotonous world, but that world also gives us comfort and security. A routine can be a path to something better, within us or for the world we live in and those around us.
When we stop and think about the weird and wonderful rituals, routines and repetitions that dictate, drive, govern and shape our lives... we are stopping and thinking about life itself!
Wonderful little book. Very readable indeed, and with some important messages.
Magnificent light-reading book with touches of humor that kept me hooked (and I’m not an easy reader). It’s a much-needed reminder of the importance of slowing down in life, touching on different aspects of it.
This is a thoroughly engaging and easy read, sprinkled with humour that does not detract from the book's message. You will be saying to yourself 'yeah, you're dead right!'
